A primary role of the school-age practitioner is to teach social skills. We will discuss the whys and needs of teaching social skills. Social skills will be broken down into seven skill clusters (The Seven Cs) – confidence, control, coping, curiosity, communications, community building, and conflict resolution. Participants will examine ways to support the development of each skill cluster. Discussion about teaching social skills will focus on direct, integrated and situational teaching of social skills. Discussion will be informed by guided discussion questions and case studies. This is a 6-part series! Participants must attend all sessions.
